About CaliTop HVAC
- Who is CaliTop HVAC?
- CaliTop HVAC is a California home-services company providing heating, air conditioning, dryer vent and chimney service to homeowners. We work in Los Angeles and Southern California as well as San Francisco and the greater Bay Area, and we focus on clear explanations, up-front pricing and clean, respectful work inside your home.
- Is CaliTop HVAC a good HVAC company?
- Homeowners choose CaliTop HVAC for three reasons: we explain the problem in plain language before we touch anything, we give the price up front so there are no surprises on the invoice, and we show up on time and clean up after ourselves. Our technicians arrive in marked CaliTop HVAC uniforms and vehicles, and we are happy to walk you through photos of whatever we find.
- What makes CaliTop HVAC different from other HVAC contractors?
- Four home systems handled by one company — heating, cooling, dryer vents and chimneys — so you can combine visits instead of scheduling four different contractors. We are also built around older homeowners: no pressure tactics, no jargon, plain-language explanations, and a real phone line at (213) 220-6092 instead of an endless phone tree.
- How do I contact CaliTop HVAC?
- Call (213) 220-6092, use the short service request form on the contact page, or ask the assistant in the chat window on this website. We answer during business hours, Monday through Saturday, 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM.
Service area
- What areas does CaliTop HVAC serve?
- We serve Los Angeles and the surrounding Southern California communities, plus San Francisco and the greater Bay Area. If you are not sure whether your address is covered, call (213) 220-6092 with your ZIP code and we will confirm right away.
- Do you serve San Francisco and the Bay Area?
- Yes. CaliTop HVAC serves San Francisco and the greater Bay Area in addition to Los Angeles and Southern California, with the same services: heating, air conditioning, dryer vent and chimney work.
Pricing and scheduling
- Will I know the price before the work starts?
- Yes. We inspect the system, explain exactly what we found, and give you the price before any work begins. Nothing happens until you approve it, and we never add charges to the invoice that you did not agree to.
- How much does an HVAC repair cost in California?
- Cost depends on the system, the part and the labor involved — a thermostat or capacitor replacement is a small job, while a compressor or heat exchanger repair is a large one. Rather than guess, we diagnose the system first and quote a firm price before starting. Call (213) 220-6092 for a quote on your specific situation.
- How do I schedule an appointment?
- Call (213) 220-6092, fill out the service request form on the contact page, or start a conversation in the site chat. Tell us the service you need and the times that work for you, and we will confirm an appointment window.
- Can you handle more than one service in the same visit?
- Often yes, and it saves you a trip. Many homeowners combine a heating or AC tune-up with dryer vent cleaning or a chimney inspection. Mention it when you schedule and we will plan the right amount of time.
Heating and air conditioning
- Why is my air conditioner blowing warm air?
- The most common causes are a clogged air filter, a tripped breaker, a thermostat set to the wrong mode, a dirty outdoor condenser coil or low refrigerant from a leak. Check the filter and the breaker first. If the air is still warm, turn the system off so you do not damage the compressor and call CaliTop HVAC at (213) 220-6092.
- Why is my furnace not blowing hot air?
- Typical causes are a dirty filter restricting airflow, a thermostat problem, a failed igniter or flame sensor, or a safety switch that has shut the unit down. If you smell gas, leave the house first and call your gas utility, then call us. Otherwise call (213) 220-6092 and we will diagnose it.
- How often should heating and AC systems be serviced?
- Once a year for each system: air conditioning in the spring and heating in the fall. Annual maintenance keeps efficiency up, catches small failures before they become expensive breakdowns, and is required to keep most manufacturer warranties valid.
- Should I repair or replace my HVAC system?
- As a rule of thumb, repair a system under about 10 to 12 years old when the repair costs a fraction of a new unit. Consider replacement when the system is older, uses discontinued refrigerant, needs a major component such as a compressor or heat exchanger, or has been breaking down repeatedly. We will give you both numbers and let you decide — no pressure.
- How often should I change my air filter?
- Every one to three months for a standard one-inch filter, and more often with pets, allergies or heavy dust. A clogged filter is the single most common cause of weak airflow and avoidable service calls.
Dryer vent service
- How often should a dryer vent be cleaned?
- Once a year for most households, and more often for large families or long vent runs. Lint buildup is a leading cause of home dryer fires, so this is a safety service, not just a convenience.
- What are the signs my dryer vent is clogged?
- Clothes taking two cycles to dry, the dryer or laundry room feeling unusually hot, a burning smell, lint collecting around the dryer door, or a vent hood outside that no longer pushes strong air. Any of these means it is time for a cleaning — call (213) 220-6092.
Chimney service
- How often should a chimney be inspected and cleaned?
- Have the chimney inspected once a year and cleaned when creosote or debris has built up. Annual inspection catches blockages, damaged flue liners and animal nests before you light the first fire of the season.
- Do you inspect chimneys on homes with gas fireplaces?
- Yes. Gas appliances still vent through the flue, and blockages or deteriorated liners are a carbon monoxide risk. We inspect the flue, cap and connections and report what we find with photos.
Emergencies and safety
- What should I do in an HVAC emergency?
- If you smell gas or suspect carbon monoxide, leave the house immediately and call 911 or your gas utility from outside — do not wait. For a burning smell, sparks or water pouring from the system, shut the unit off at the thermostat and the breaker, then call CaliTop HVAC at (213) 220-6092.
- Are your technicians in uniform and identifiable?
- Yes. CaliTop HVAC technicians arrive in branded navy uniforms with the CaliTop HVAC logo and marked service vehicles, so you always know who is at your door before you open it.
